Sweet and Sour Pork Belly
A delicious home-cooked version of a classic Chinese dish. Perfect to serve with rice or noodles.
Ingredients
- 800g belly pork
- 4 tbsp gluten-free BBQ sauce
- 1 tbsp dark soy
- 1/2 tsp 5 spice
- 2 tbsp sweet chilli sauce
- 1 tsp garlic
- 2 tsp fresh ginger
- 2 tbsp honey
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 tbsp white wine vinegar
Garnish
- 1/4 tsp sesame seeds
- Sesame oil
Method
Step 1: Chop Pork
Chop the pork belly into 3 inch pieces.
Step 2: Roast
Place the pork in a dish, roast in an oven at 200°C for 30 minutes.
Step 3: Prep Sauce
Meanwhile add all the remaining ingredients (except garnish) to a bowl.
Step 4: Mix Sauce
Mix the ingredients.
Step 5: Crisp
Cook the pork until the fat becomes crispy.
Step 6: Wok Fry
Add the oil to the wok and fry the pork on medium-high heat for 3 minutes.
Step 7: Stir in Sauce
Stir in the sauce.
Step 8: Sticky Finish
Fry until the sauce bubbles and becomes sticky.
Step 9: Serve
Place the pork in a serving bowl. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and drizzle with a little sesame oil. Serve.
Alternatives
The sesame seeds and sesame oil garnish are optional. This dish goes well with fried rice or noodles.
