Sweet and Sour Pork Belly

This recipe is a home cooked version of a classic Chinese dish. Perfect to serve with rice or noodles. It is also gluten and dairy free.

Sweet and Sour Pork Belly


Preparation time - 15 minutes
Cooking time - 40 minutes

Ingredients (serves 4)

800g belly pork
4 tbsp gluten-free BBQ sauce
1 tbsp dark soy
1/2 tsp 5 spice
2 tbsp sweet chilli sauce
1 tsp garlic
2 tsp fresh ginger
2 tbsp honey
2 tbsp brown sugar
2 tbsp white wine vinegar

To Garnish
1/4 tsp sesame seeds
Sesame oil


To cook


1. Chop the pork belly into 3 inch pieces. 




2. Place the pork in a dish, roast in an oven at 200c from 30 min.




3. Meanwhile add all the remaining ingredients to a bowl.




4. Mix the ingredients.




5. Cook the pork until the fat becomes crispy. 




6. Add the oil to the wok and fry the pork on a med / heat for 3 minutes.




7. Stir in the sauce.




8. Fry until the sauce bubbles and becomes sticky.




9. Place the ribs in a serving bowl. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and drizzle with a little sesame oil. Serve.




Alternatives

The sesame seeds and sesame oil garnish are optional.

This dish goes well with fried rice or noodles.
