Momma's Fish Bites, Chips and Peas
A tasty homemade version of the classic UK dish, perfect for kids.
Ingredients
- 2 tins marrowfat peas
- 3 medium size potatoes
- 2 cod fillets
- 3/4 cup plain flour
- 1/4 cup cornflour
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
- 3/4 cup soda
- Salt, pepper, sugar, vinegar
Method
Step 1: Prep Chips
Chop the potatoes and fry them. Keep them warm in the oven.
Step 2: Keep Warm
Place the cooked chips on a tray and keep warm in the oven.
Step 3: Heat Peas
Heat the peas and season with salt, pepper and a pinch of sugar.
Step 4: Prep Fish
Chop the fish into bite size pieces and place on paper towels.
Step 5: Mix Batter Dry
Add the flour and turmeric to a bowl.
Step 6: Coat Fish
Add 3tbsp of the mixture to a plate and turn the fish to coat it all over.
Step 7: Batter
Dip each piece of fish in the batter and transfer to the oil.
Step 8: Cook
Cook the fish for 3 minutes.
Step 9: Drain
Remove from the oil when golden brown.
Step 10: Serve
Serve with the chips and peas. Add salt and vinegar to taste.
