Momma's Fish Bites, Chips and Peas

This is a tasty homemade version of the classic UK dish Fish and Chips. Kids love the fish served as bite-size pieces. The meal is dairy free and can also be be made using gluten-free  flour.

Momma's Fish Bites, Chips and Peas



Preparation time - 15 minutes
Cooking time - 20 minutes

Ingredients (serves 2)

2 tins marrowfat peas
3 medium size potatoes
2 cod fillets
3/4 cup of plain flour
1/4 cup cornflour
1/2 tsp turmeric
3/4 cup soda
salt
pepper
sugar
vinegar


To cook



1. Chop the potatoes and fry them. Keep them warm in the oven. 




2. Place the cooked chips and a tray and keep warm in the oven.




3. Heat the peas and season with salt, pepper and a pinch of sugar.



 
4Chop the fish into bite size pieces and place on a paper towels.




5. Add the flour and turmeric to a bowl.




6Add 3tbsp of the mixture to a plate and turn the fish to coat it all over.




7. Dip each piece of fish in the batter and transfer to the oil.




8. Cook the fish for 3 minutes.




9.  Remove from the oil when golden brown





10. Serve with the chips and peas. Add salt and vinegar to taste
