Green Tomatillo Salsa
This simple salsa packs an incredibly fresh Mexican punch thanks to the use of authentic green tomatillos. Excellent served fresh or stored away in the fridge.
Ingredients
- 800g tin of green tomatillos
- 1/2 onion
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1 dried arbol chilli
- 1 fresh red chilli
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp cider vinegar
- Fresh coriander leaves
Method
Step 1: Assemble Sauce Components
Add the green tomatillos, garlic cloves, chillies, onion half, ground cumin, oregano, salt, cider vinegar, and fresh coriander elements directly into a high mixing or blending jug.
Step 2: Blend Smooth
Use an immersion stick blender to blitz the raw contents thoroughly until completely smooth and vibrant green.
Step 3: Simmer and Heat Through
Pour the blended sauce base straight into a pan over medium heat. Simmer gently for 5 minutes, then serve up right away or secure inside an airtight jar in the refrigerator.
