Sticky Spare Ribs
These Chinese-style ribs are covered in a very tasty sweet and savoury sticky sauce. The dish is dairy-free and gluten-free.
Preparation time - 15 minutes
Cooking time - 40 minutes
Ingredients (serves 3)
1kg pork ribs
2 tbsp oil
4 tbsp BBQ sauce
2 tbsp dark soy sauce
2 tbsp sweet chilli sauce
2 garlic cloves
1 tbsp chopped ginger
4 tbsp honey
5 tbsp brown sugar
1/2 tsp 5-spice powder
4 tbsp sherry
1 spring onion
To cook
1. Place the ribs in a pan to boil for 30 minutes.
2. Place the boiled ribs into a frying pan with the oil.
3. Fry until browned on all sides.
4. In a separate frying pan add the BBQ sauce, soy sauce, sweet chilli sauce, garlic, ginger, honey, 5-spice, brown sugar and sherry. Gently bring to the boil.
5. Add the ribs to the sauce and simmer for 10 minutes.
6. Sprinkle with sliced spring onions. Serve on their own as a starter or with noodles as a main course.
